Required steps to apply to TIDE Academy's 2019-2020 9th grade class:
 
Step 1 [November 1, 2018 Through February 1, 2019 at 4:00pm]: Complete Address Verification to establish residency on record within SUHSD attendance boundaries. This is required for all incoming students to SUHSD, regardless of SUHSD high school. In person submission by the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) is required.
  • You may print out the Address Verification Form and bring it to the SUHSD District Office, or you may visit the SUHSD District Office to receive and complete this form.
  • Supporting documentation is required to accompany Address Verification:

    • District Office hours (excluding holidays): Monday-Friday from 8:15am to 4:15pm
  • Note: Any student that has an incomplete, late (deadline: February 1, 2019 at 4:00pm), or missing Address Verification becomes ineligible in the TIDE Academy application process.
Step 2 [Now Through February 1, 2019 at 4:00pm]: Determine your child's default Home School, based on address.
Step 3 [November 15, 2018 through February 1, 2019 at 4:00pm]: Complete the Open Enrollment Transfer form for incoming 9th Graders to SUHSD.

  • In order to apply to TIDE Academy, under the option to "Select the name of the high school your student wishes to attend", choose "T.I.D.E. Academy".
  • Note: An existing High School Student ID is requested, if available, and is not required for successful submission of this form.
Step 4 [Early March, 2019]: Receive admittance and confirm TIDE Academy as your "Home School".
  • If there are more applications than available seats, a public drawing (lottery) will take place on February 7, 2019 at 3:00pm in the SUHSD District Office (Board room). Attendance is not required. Note that application decisions are not given to applicants at this time.
  • During the first week of March, 2019, admitted applicants will be notified by paper letter. A wait list will be established for those who have not been admitted, if applicable.
  • Admitted families need to confirm enrollment by no later than March 15, 2019, making TIDE Academy their official "Home School" within SUHSD.
    • Applicants do not give up their default "Home School" (based on home address; see Step 2 above) until they accept their enrollment into TIDE Academy. After enrollment confirmation, a student's "Home School" is changed to TIDE Academy and parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for transportation.
  • Enrollments not accepted by the deadline will result in the enrollment being offered to the next waitlisted student (if available). Admitted families receiving a rolling notice need to confirm enrollment by no later than 7 business days, making TIDE Academy their official "Home School" and parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for transportation.
  • On April 30, 2019, the waitlist expires. Families who do not receive a letter regarding the waitlist by this date are not admitted into TIDE Academy. SUHSD will not send out letters for non-approval for students on the waitlist. These students remain at their "Home School" based on home address (see Step 2 above).
