Why TIDE Academy?

TIDE Academy was a perfect fit for me to evolve as an educator. TIDE has a great program that provides multiple learning and social opportunities to its students. In addition, I wanted to start my teaching career in a small school and in the same community I grew up.

What I do and why

I am the Physical Education Instructor and Athletic Director. I also coach our cross country, soccer, and badminton teams. I have always had a passion for physical activity and teaching about fitness components. One of my goals is to help prepare our TIDE students on how to live a healthier lifestyle and how to incorporate physical activity to their daily lives.

I was raised in Redwood City, California where I attended grades K-12th and have lived my entire life on the Peninsula. I attended San José State University where I majored in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Preparation for Teaching. I also received my teaching credential in Physical Education from SJSU; I am fluent in English and Spanish. I have worked in educational organizations, including: The Boys and Girls Club Of the Peninsula and the Peninsula Jewish Community Center where I taught multiple physical activity courses that focused on fitness components and team building. I believe in giving students a variety of opportunities that expands their knowledge and critical thinking skills, but also motivates them to pursue a healthier and physically active lifestyle that becomes a part of their daily lives.
