In TIDE's Nucleus class, students develop the five core social emotional learning (SEL) competencies: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills and social awareness. Lessons and activities involve practice with interpersonal communication, meta-cognition, conflict resolution and restorative justice. Nucleus meets twice per week in 40-minute periods, with one weekly period dedicated to project work and the other to SEL curriculum. Students will hone the skills learned in Nucleus in their regular academic courses.
