Our Science Teachers ---Mrs. Ferrario, formerly Miss. Cox (Biology) and Mr. Stagg (AP Physics)
At TIDE Academy, all students will take Biology in the 9th grade. Students will take Chemistry in the 10th grade and Physics in the 11th grade. During senior year, students will have the option of taking a local community college science course from a wide range of pre-selected science offerings.

Biology

Biology covers the scientific hows and whys of living things. Understanding biology means learning the basic ideas of life science and using imagination, creativity, and insight to understand how living systems work and interact. Students will learn to analyze and interpret the intricacies of life that are right outside of their front door, while also creating ways to better the future for all living organisms through lab experiments, simulations, and real-world exploration.

Chemistry

Chemistry is the science of matter, its properties, and its changes. Chemistry is also a quantitative science. You will learn the methods to determine or predict how much, how many, how concentrated, how big, or how hot, all of which involve measurement and calculations. You will leave the course with a fundamental understanding of how atoms and molecules interact to produce the phenomena we observe in our everyday lives.
