Descriptions of current volunteer options

 

Mentoring

 
The mentor program will pair juniors at TIDE with professionals to discuss both academic and career goals.  TIDE has 2 pathways, either Computer Programming or Digital Marketing.  While they are enrolled in these pathways,  the students' career interests are widespread ranging from business and engineering to medicine and law enforcement.  The commitment is approximately 2 hours per month, from October 2021 to May 2022.  The mentor program will pair students with professionals to discuss both academic and career goals, key deliverables will include: elevator pitch, SMART goals, resume, job shadow, and mock interviews.
 

One-Day Symposium - Spring Semester

 
Technology panel: 3-4 professionals will discuss the new technology that they are working on, their personal pathway, and how they got there as well as where the industry is going.  Students attending this session will be those considering or currently enrolled in Intro to Computer Science.
 
Marketing panel: 3-4 professionals will discuss digital marketing campaigns that they are working on, their personal pathway, and how they got there as well as where the industry is going.  Students attending this session will be those considering or currently enrolled in Digital Marketing.
 
Career Round Tables: professionals will speak in a small group format about their career, educational background, give a brief job description and offer the pros & cons of their field.  Students will have 20 minutes with two professionals and then rotate to the next. Ideally, professionals from a wide variety of technology careers and the business units that support them will be represented.
